Smur og viðgerðaþjónustan ehf was founded in autumn 1995 by Halldór G. Elíasson and Victor R. Viktorsson.

The business was originally located at Bíldshöfði 5a in Reykjavík, with the main focus on oil service and smaller car repairs.

In autumn 2004, the company moved to its current premises at Hyrjarhöfði 8 in Reykjavík. The location provides spacious workshop facilities, good working space and parking. The equipment was renewed and the company developed its service around broader vehicle maintenance and service solutions.
